I have stayed at many units through Sunhost over the years but I have to say my very favorite are the units at Surfsong. My husband and I "found" Surfsong in 1991 as we began our yearly winter trips to Florida. We traveled all over the state as we searched for a retirement home. But no matter where we ended up we always made sure we got to Surfsong if only for one night. It was like coming home. The Tolliver's always found a place for us on those visits. Our son proposed to his wife during the 2000 New Year's celebration, our first granddaughter put her little feet in the sand and ocean for the very first time at Surfsong. And sadly my husband spent his last time in Florida at Surfsong. I still visit and I bring friends who now love it as much as I do. Thank you Tolliver's for managing to keep Surfsong and expanding your business to include so many other lovely units.

Unit 227 is our favorite condo for many years. The kitchen is well appointed and fun to work in. The charming colors of "Old Florida" in the bathroom tile. The gorgeous view thru the palms to the beach. The "Surf Song" and sea breeze make air conditioning seldom necessary. The bed and furniture are comfy. The decor is charming, TV is great and this unit is heavenly

We stayed at Surf Song about 8 years ago and fell in love with the unit, the pool, proximity to the beach, and we love Madeira Beach. This time, we discovered that we still loved it, for the same reasons. Even though the unit was different, it was still homey, comfortable, and spacious. We loved having the two bedrooms and spacious living area, and being able to walk directly onto the beach was fantastic. I would recommend that the kitchen include salt and pepper, cooking spray, and cleanser. I did feel that this unit suffered by being so close to the outdoor seating area on the second floor, because at night, it got pretty loud.

We always enjoy staying at Surf Song especially the rooms by the pool. John's Pass Boardwalk across the street has alot of different types of stores and restaurants. The Kubiak's recommend this vacation spot to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing stay. Since we have had such great customer service and great rooms the past 4 years we plan on making this our yearly vactation.

Room quite adequate, loved the balcony off the room, sunny, and refreshing. We would suggest it to anyone staying there. Lots of wild and crazy other visitors at Surf Song, we were welcomed in whatever was happening, just a wonderful time. The pool was one of the highlights along with the deck chairs and comfortable relaxing area. The grills were used almost daily and were well taken care of. Will be back in November.

We enjoyed our stay with better than average weather and a heated pool. Each sunset can be viewed from this unit and we were subject to many great evening sights.

I think it is a little late to ask me about my stay since it was last July. My room was ok but it needed work done to it. The couch was so bad you could not use it to sleep on. The place was nice but what made it fun was we were there with many family members.

Very nice decor/updating. Extremely clean unit. Great third floor view of beach and Johns Pass from either balcony. (Beach view from over roof top with air units exposed) Near elevator but you'll still have to climb about 4-5 stairs to the units front balcony/front door. It has a covered parking spot, which is nice when it's raining or to keep your car in the shade/less hot. It did have kind of a weird layout but altogether great value.

The staff was super nice, helpful and very knowledgeable. Check in and out was a breeze. The condo was in great condition, and easy to get comfortable in, right by the beach. We did not have one complaint the whole week we were there. The condos were quiet, up to date, and an excellent value for the price! I would definitely return and would not hesitate to request this particular condo again or recommend it for families/couples for a nice relaxing vacation!!

Condo #228 provided good value for our money. All amenities were provided. Decor a little dated , however this did not deter from a favorable experience. Would rent this unit again.

We have been staying at the Surf Song since our daughter was 6 or 7, and she is now 17. Surf Song is always clean, comfortable, and family oriented. The employees are great, and we love the beach. We will continue our week or two there every summer!

Wonderful family environment. Love the easy access to the John's Pass Boardwalk shops and restaraunts. Large white sandy beach for family activities. This unit is perfect for Singles, Couples or Small families. Management staff is personable and very helpful.

second time at the surf song and what a great place to stay it may be a bit on the old side but all condos are upgraded stayed in many of the new high rise blocks along the coast but this is by far the best everyone is so friendly management and staff are great nothing too much for them will be back soon dont change a thing

This unit was very clean and spacious. The trip included myself, spouse and 9 month old baby. The room included a comfortable king sized bed and spacious sitting area. We were able to set up the pack-n-play for our little one with plenty of space afterwards. All of the appliances worked great and the provided dishes, etc. were clean and tidy. It was a great experience, so much that we are getting ready to book another trip to the same location, although just getting a bigger condo as we are bringing more family with us this time!

I love this place and plan to be back. A close family friend goes every year with their family. I got a room for my family this year and tagged along. I loved how it was right on the beach and it had a wonderful pool area. The rooms were extremely clean, and the staff friendly. My favorite thing about the place was the grills. They had a patio area with four gas grills. This made it easy for home cooked meals.

We rented a room for several days and our friends were in a large condo with great views. We loved the location, views of the waters and sunsets. However, we found the unit to be very crowded with large furniture and the bathroom was very old fashioned. The unit could use some updating with additional mirrors and pictures. Smaller furniture would be an improvement.

My only complaint would be that the unit we stayed in was next door to the laundry unit that the workers used. They start early and at times was noisy since it was next to the bedroom.

Room was clean and roomy for 2 adults and 2 children. The beach side is quiet, and the street side is full of things to do. You never know the street side is there unless you want to. The "Bamboo Gardens" accross the street is a good place to have a beer and listen to some music. The Hut is a nice place for an easy casual dinner. The Dolphin watch, Pirate cruise and parasailing are all cool and just a short walk away at John's pass. The Beach is clean and safe. The sunsets are beautiful! The stay was both relaxing and fun. The shuffleboard court by the pool is a lot of fun! I was a little unhappy about being charged an extra fee for peak season and we went 2 weeks after Easter and it wasn't peak. It was actually kinda quiet with quite a few rooms empty. But it was still nice to walk out of your door and into the pool. with the beach only a few steps away. This is my 2nd time at surf song. I also stayed twice at Crimson and once at beach place. Crimson and surf song are the best!

We have been staying at Surf Song for about 30 years, and sometimes we make 2 times a year. This summer we came with our son, our daughter-in-law and our two granddaughters. They so loved it! Gracie, our granddaughter, learned to swim at the pool while we were there. We will probably return this winter.

We drove from Crawfordsville Indiana arriving on april 3, 2010 in Madeira Beach middle of the afternoon for our spring break vacation, we were able to check in with no problem and everthing was just as I told it would be.This was a last minute brooking, which worked out great. The entire week was very relaxing, clean and be able to walk to jJohn's Pass was a big plus, we have stayed many place's in the Madeira Beach area before because our son had lived just a block away, he has since moved to Seminole, which is right up the road. We will return to the area next year, my wife has reretired now so our vacation time will be a little different not having to come at the same time as everyone else. But our stay was great, nice and clean and we love the area and very relaxing. I am a photograher also and can sent you some photos that I took of your place also. We will come back to your place, so keepup the good work. The only thing that I would change to #117 is to mount the TV somewhere else, to hard to wach in bed. Thanks Joe Boswell

Our second time staying at Surf Song, the first in unit 222. We love this group of condos, staff are very helpful and friendly, and other vacationers are friendly as well. Operates like a little family. The pool/beach are beautiful. Our condo was lovely, newly renovated in the kitchen/living room. Could use the bathrooms renovated - clean but older. Location of 222 was great - we had a direct beach view and could reach the beach by walking down over the stairs. We will defintely be coming back again. Great location directly across from John's Pass which is so convenient. nothing but good to say about our recent stay!

This is the first time we stayed at the Surf Song, For the first week we were in Suite 115 and then we had to switch the second week to 113. One of my sons stayed in suite 335 their air conditioning broke but the office gave them 331 over the weekend until the service man for the air conditioner could fix the problem. They left after one week and also enjoyed their stay. Suite 115 was wonderful, when 4 adults had to move to 113 with a grandchild, it was a bit difficult with one bathroom, but we managed. We also had other friends that rented a room overlooking the pool for 5 days, they enjoyed as well but we upset every night when the people did not leave the swimming pool at 9:30 p.m. Visting baby.com was such a god send and thank you for the recommendation. All in all a great time. Thankyou, we had a vacation to remember.

Although the facility is old, the room we stayed in was very modern on the inside with stainless steel refrigerator and stove as well as granite counter-tops. A couple of nights the noise was a little loud in the courtyard after 11pm, but nothing to annoying. The access to the beach was great and we felt very safe at the location. The other guests were very friendly which really made the stay enjoyable. The one major fault we had was with the tile floors. We had to wear our shoes at all times due to the floors being dirty. Without shoes your feet would be black in a couple of minutes. They could have done a better job on the floors.

I rented condo #226 and it had absolutely everything I needed: a windowed open kitchen area that included a complete set of dinnerware (even wine glasses), a large assortment of pots and pans, a sitting area with a picture window overlooking the gulf - plus a 32 inch flat screen TV. Everything was extremely clean and worked perfectly. The staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. One night I didn't know how to turn off the ceiling fan and a pleasant and very competent maintenance staffer promptly came up to show me how. The office staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, too. Another evening I wanted to attend a nighttime X-mas boat parade, but didn't want to go alone. The office staff kindly introduced me to another single woman and we went to the boat parade together. I missed the Super Shuttle pickup on the day of my departure and the staff recommended BATS taxi service - which got me to Tampa Airport on time and charged me a very reasonable fee, as well. Surf Song is located in a very central location on Gulf Blvd. and is right across from John's Pass Village. I had a really delightful vacation at Surf Song and plan on returning within the next few months.

Outstanding service. We had a toilet problem maintenance fixed right away. We would stay in this unit again and hope to do so later in the year.location is ideal as John's pass is right across the street. beach front and three bbq grills for your use. The only downside with this unit was the blinds that cover windows that look out to the beach were broken and privacy at night was a problem.(they were to be fixed right after we left?) We have stayed at Surf Song before and we will try to stay there every time we come to Florida. friendly and helpful staff will make your stay a pleasent vacation.

The Surf Song through Sun Host Resort is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. The beach, pool, atmosphere, John's Pass were all excellent. You can't ask for a better place for a better price. The resort is old, but it is clean and the staff is exceptional. This property was well appointed, very comfortable, clean and appliances in excellent condition. The view from the room and from the balcony was unobstructed and beautiful. A mirror is placed over the sofa and you can see the gulf by looking in the mirror. We would definitely stay here again.

This was one of our best and most relaxing vacations ever. The room was ready when we arrived at check-in time and was very clean. The view was great, in fact we never ate in the room, always on the balcony. The pool was nice and clean and warm. Parking was convenient with lots of room. The atmosphere was very friendly. It was great having unlimited long distance. The location is nice and close to everything, no need to drive. The best thing was the balcony view. We are disappointed that we can't have a unit like this for just one week next March, at this location. Hopefully something will open up for us. Thanks for the great vacation!

We spent a wonderful week at the Surf Song condo #223. This is the first time that we stayed in this resort and it was almost perfect. The condo was close to the beach and close to John Pass. Everything was in order when we arrived with the exception of the internet but the "handyman" fixed this within a day. We'd definitely recommend this unit if you have no more than 2 kids since there are not enough chairs at the kitchen table (4 high chairs and a high table). The owner should provide table cloths to protect the beautiful kitchen table. See you next year !!

We have stayed at Surf Song many times in the past and have enjoyed our stay, but this year we stayed in unit 344 and we were somewhat dissapointed. The carpeting was dirty and old and needs replacement. The kitchen range and microwave were old, probably the original ones that were installed. Two of the chairs on the patio were missing plastic straps on the seats. The toilet and vanity seemed new but again the bathtub was probably the original one installed. With the exception of the items noted above, we like the location of Surf Song and we will rent here in the future.

We were impressed with the bright clean accomodations. The room overlooks the pool, beach and Gulf of Mexico. The complex is a quiet, family oriented place to stay and relax. It is just a short walk from John's Pass, with many little shops and restaurants within walking distance. We recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet spot to soak up the sun and relax.

We were in Florida last year and enjoyed the area very much...nice beaches,good food and close proximity to all amenities.Chose a different accomadation this year and found Surf Song on the internet. Arriving late It was nice to find that management had taken care of late arrivals finding our keys available for us.The accomadations were clean and everthing was there as advertised. We enjoyed the surrounding amenities(beach,St. John's Pass,restaurants,shopping).We would definitely reccommend your condo based on those merits however we would suggest that large family reunions not be permitted as it tends to be rather noisey and overrun making other guests feel like your intruding and unable to use bbq OR pool chairs etc.It is a good value and worth the money.

Surf Song was an absolutely beautiful place to stay in Madeira Beach. Unit 225 was warm and welcoming with a lovely tropical feel to the room. Very clean throughout. It is situated directly across from a little sitting area which found great while the kiddies were napping. Beach access was fantastic and you are directly across from John's Pass (restaurants and shops). Pool was warm and never crowded. We would stay here again without hesitation and felt unit 225 was our home away from home. Great Trip!!

Please beware only rent this unit if you expect to enjoy your vacation, want a friendly atmosphere and great location. I would highly recommend that you stay here, of course only after I have booked my reservations for next year! Accommodation were top notch and this room is very comfortable and has a great location to all amenities. Plenty of shops and restaurants located across the street, once you park the car there's no need to start it until you are headed home. Please have as much fun as we did.

We just returned from a week long stay on the beach. The weather was great, a little windy for a couple of days but the waves were beautiful. Had a great time watching the dolphins, jet ski's, parasailers right off of the balcony. The people that work at Surf Song were great work with. We liked our unit very much, but would prefer a direct beach view next time. Liked the fact that we didn't have to have "keys" for the elevator, pool area, etc. like a lot of other rentals do.

I was extremely happy with my stay. The room was lovely, the pool was heated, the people were friendly, the beach was fabulous, the shopping & dining was just across the street and I knew after just arriving that I would come back again. I would recommend only one thing....make the sign in the laundry room larger because I talked with several people who started laundry only to find out they could not finish because the machines shut down at 9:30 pm

This is a nice place, the condo itself was fine, nothing too great. Positives were that it was in a great location and there were not a lot of crazy spring break kids running around the place. There were plenty of laundry spots and the grounds were kept up. Negatives about the place were the balcony door didnt shut all the way and didnt have a lock. The microwave and kitchen area could really use some updating. Overall the place is fine.

Great condo!

We spent a week at Surg Song, staying in Unit #115. The unit has been completely upgraded and the furniture, decor and ammenities are wonderful. Although there is no view from the unit, it is very convenient to the parking lot and only a few feet from the pool and patio. In spite of the location we found it very quiet. Surf Song is a wonderful vacation spot. Both staff and guests were extremely friendly. The beach is delightful, pool is great and of course John's Pass is a great way to fill the times when one must get away from the beach (although that is hard to do). Hope to be able to stay there again, and recommend it highly,

We stayed in #256 the last week of February, 2009. It was clean and had everything we needed. I came prepared with two sets of dishes, bowls, silverware, etc. for eating in the room for breakfast and lunch, but didn't need anything, as the room had everything we needed (4 dishes, 2 bowls, silverware, 4 glasses and coffee mugs). The room was clean and quiet (except for the first night). The people staying there are almost all over 60 years old, but that was fine (we're in our early-mid 50s). Everyone was very friendly (guests and staff). Had a light bulb burn out and it was replaced within an hour. Highly recommend it for people who want clean and nice but not extravagant. We'll be back next year I hope.

The room was very nice and had most everything we could need. It was clean and the view was very nice. The only thing we would have liked was an ice machine somewhere on the property. The refrigerator we had, had a freezer, but it was a problem having to get the ice cubes out all the time and no where to actually dump the extra cubes, so you had to refill everytime. Other than that, we really liked the whole atmosphere at Surf Song. KIS

Just got back from one week stay at Surf Song resort. Way too short for me. We didn't want to leave. The unit was perfectly situated with a table and umbrella right out the front door and six steps to the beach. The unit itself was very comfortable...nothing fancy, but with everything you'd need. Everyone we met was so friendly! The only drawback was no place to hang wet towels & suits to dry. Would we go back? Absolutely!! Great pool...the kids loved it, great beach & fun surf. Quite a bit of shelling too! Easy walk to John's pass & convenient to grocery stores & trolley stops. If you can get a reservation I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

We have only one complaint and that is we both love it so much we would of liked to stay longer. I don't think we would ever tire of the Surf Song. We stayed there at least 5 times and never had a bad experience. We feel as comfortable there as we do in our own home. We are very spoiled with the Surf Song. They always see to it they can do everything they can for you to make it a home away from home.

Location and staff were great! Other guests at the condos stay there for months and don't like new commers! They do water aerobics in the pool every morning and u hear everything! Them counting on and on! Very annoying! Bathroom needs updated desperatly!

We really enjoyed our month stay at Surf Song and would come back - the condo had everything we needed, it was clean, quiet and well maintained. The pool was nice and warm and lots of chairs - view was great.

The management is outstanding: The managers, Larry and Tim; the people at check-in, the switchboard staff, Tracy and the housekeeping ladies, Steve and the maintenance staff all were very kind and saw to our every need. Also, the nice people who come here make for a great vacation!

Unit clean, facilites like new, porch furniture should have been replaced however couldn't use anyway because of weather, patio door needs total replacement, hall into bath room missed it's second coat of paint, offfice staff was very helpful, took a few minutes to figure out how to get heat on cold days, furnace control markings were missing. Considering all of the above, the unit was as advertised, however, I felt it was overpriced.

Surf Song is a wonderful place to stay. The weather was fabulous and the people very friendly. In fact, we made some new friends there. We had a motel room (#256) and it was great! We were a bit concerned about whether it would be large enough for a one-week stay; however, it was perfect for us. We ate out every night, but had breakfast and lunch in the room. I brought bowls, plates, silverware, etc. but found upon arrival that I didn't need them, as they were provided. This place is clean, quiet and friendly. Families with children and teens may find it a poor fit, but for those of us over 50, this is the place!

Thanks for that great review! Keep in mind that Surf Song is actually a great family place for kids and teens at other times of the years. Please contact our knowledable staff about the best times of year for certain ages. Winter & Fall (jan-feb - sept - oct- nov) are best for mature adults, rest of year when school is out is great for families!

This is a clean, well maintained, one bedroom unit in a great location. It is situated directly adjacent to a beautiful section of beach, and only a couple of blocks from John's Pass Boardwalk, with its shops and restaurants. Major grocery and drug stors are within a five minute drive, and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful.

Relaxing & Enjoyable Winter Vacation

We just spent two weeks at Surf Song Condo on Madeira Beach and had the most relaxing vacation. This is our 25th year staying on Madeira Beach and maybe out 5th or 6th year at Surf Song. The people are friendly, the accommodations perfect ... the location.. You can not get better.. Right on the beach across the street from John's Pass Village. As always everything was in order when we arrived. The pictures online do not do the place justice. The property, the pool, condo & beach .etc are nicer than the pictures! I can not say enough about the staff ... friendly and courteous... They are there friendly and helpful..But always mindful of your privacy. We'd definitely recommend Surf Song. There is a full kitchen with grocery stores close by and restaurants within walking distance. We cooked the grill outside. God willing ...We'll be back next year. Enjoy!

John's Pass must do Holiday

This is the fourth year we have stayed at the Surf Song Condo in Medeira Beach, Johns Pass. We have travelled to Florida for the past 10 years and this is the place we call home away from home. We book for the following year before we leave to make sure we do not lose our spot. It is a must do vacation. We have told friends and family and they have enjoyed this spot just as we have and will continue to for as long as possible. Our group has grown from three of us to nine this January.

We enjoyed a wonderful week at the Surf Song. We had always stayed a few blocks down the beach and had been coming to Madeira Beach for 40+ years. Our former home away from home sold out to large condo's and we were not sure where to stay. I had found the Surf Song on the internet and had emailed several correspondences back and forth with the managers. My 87 year old father was coming with us and we were looking for a place with a short walk to the beach, close to John's Pass (we like the boardwalk music) and a smaller place with not so many visitors. The Surf Song was perfect. The managers were extremely helpful and friendly and we found out that there are several families from Indiana that come yearly at the same time to all visit. The only trouble we did have was that several children (who come yearly) purposely got the elevator stuck by placing an orange in the elevator door. My father had to climb up and down three flights of stairs during our visit until the elevator could be fixed. He has heart trouble so it was extremely scary for him to get so short winded while climbing. We were afraid he would suffer a heart attack. All was fixed and we were back to enjoying ourselves in the beautiful Florida sunshine. I would highly recommend Surf Song and we are hopeful to be able to return next year.

We were there Dec 17-29. The condo #345 was very nice, new furniture, very comfortable and very clean. We had a side oceanview, which was good. Being a sun lover I should have thought about renting a front oceanview to enjoy the sun all day on the balcony, as well as a broader oceanview. Beach is very beautiful,pool very clean and quite a few long chairs facing the beach. Price reasonable and personnel very friendly and ready to help. Happy there was an elevator. Would definitely recommend. Location is perfect, across John's Pass Mall where you find lots of souvenir shops, a beautiful store not to miss: Lady in Brass, and lots of restaurants and Ice Cream parlours. Further down the street, went to a Grecko Restaurant: bad choice,it's always empty, felt like owner tries to sell you more and although he advertises cheap prices, it ends up being very expensive and food not that fresh... Ocean was icy cold, but went swimming 3 times. You an also see dolphins jumping out, early morning 7:30am and around 4:30pm. Suggest to rent a car and visit around.

While we really enjoy and like unit 119 and have stayed there many times and will continue to rent it again, there are some things that should be corrected. The dining table and chairs need to be replaced. The chairs seem to be quite unstable and could be dangerous. Also, the dvd player was not useful due to the remote for the tv was not able to change to the "video" mode. A heavier curtain is needed in the master bedroom beacuse of the light outside of the room that causes a lack of darkness at night.

Room 237 was very nice for us, we checked in on December 28th and checked out on January 7th, 2009. The room's location was quite and very peaceful for us. We look forward to next year..

No Car Needed

Fabulous family owned and very friendly, We didn't even rent a car..Across the street is everything from Restaurants to all the shopping at your fingertips. The no saving lounges with towels is not enforced so you do have to get up really early to get a spot. We were there over the Christmas and New Year Holiday and the weather was fantastic....

We had a wonderful time at Surf Song this year. We really appreciated the much needed updates in our condo. The kitchen is much easier to work in, the cupboards are well-stocked. We had dishes that matched. The dish washer is much easier to use since it has been relocated. The new stove was wonderful. I know they were in transition & the place was not completed yet. It would have been nice to have a TV in each bedroom and some area rugs, because the floor is very cold. The slip covers were constantly slipping. I loved the new shutters and the choice of colors on the walls. It is a large unit the our girls appreciated the new mattresses in the room with the 2 double beds. Our location is perfect. We are close to the pool and the laundry facilities. The weather was almost perfect this year. We look forward to many more years staying at Surf Song.

This is our 4th year staying at the SurfSong - it is an amazing property and our Unit #225 was our favourite so far! The location is perfect - directly across from the great shopping at John's Pass. Our unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths - perfect when travelling with 2 teenage sons. The pool is heated and fabulous and you are also right at the beach. The Unit itself is perfect - decorated Florida style and had everything you could need - 3 flat screen TV's - even a VCR/DVD combo in the living room. The kitchen is really well-stocked with coffee-maker, dishes, etc. All you really need are beach towels, as all your linens and towels are supplied by the Surfsong. If you stay longer than a week, you have a cleaning service that comes in. I would highly recommend this resort and Unit 225 - we have already booked again for next year - this time for 2 weeks!

The 4 of us try to come back every year to what we now refer to as our "Home away from Home"! We have even brought along good friends in past years that also refer to Surf Song as their "little piece of paradise"! Everyone is so friendly and helpful!! From the Management and staff, down to the fellow vacationers!! During these cold, blustery, Northeast Ohio winter days it is SO nice to think back to our warm, wonderful vacation on Madeira Beach! CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!!

The Surf Song is a nice place to relax. My only complaint, and it isn't about the Surf Song, is that the construction going on made it a little congested at times. We have stayed here previously and have enjoyed our stay everytime. I like the fact that you have assigned parking, so you know you will always have a parking space no matter what time you come back from a day out.
