1. John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk
Take a stroll on the boardwalk and enjoy the waterfront views at John’s Pass. This boardwalk is filled with a variety of shops, restaurants, charters, and water equipment rentals. You can find something for the whole family here. You can spend a nice afternoon exploring everything this boardwalk has to offer.
2. The Beach
There is no shortage of beaches on this beautiful Florida barrier island. There are about 2.5 miles of beautiful beaches that will greatly compliment your beach day. Mad beach is one of the cleanest public beaches in the Tampa area. With its proximity to the boardwalk, it provides the perfect location for those who want a full day in the sun without being out on the beach all day.
3. Alligator and Wildlife Discovery Center
The Alligator and Wildlife Discovery Center is the perfect place to get up close and personal with all the unique animals Florida has to offer. This indoor center is home to over 250 animals that have been surrendered to them or orphaned native wildlife that cannot go back into the wild. Their hands-on adventures give all visitors the opportunity to meet all the different species up close and personally. You also could kiss a gator.
4. Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf
Challenge your friends or family to a round of adventure mini-golf. This 18-hole course will take you through caves, pirate ships, waterfalls, and live alligators. If you are a larger party wanting to golf, you will have to split up into groups of 4 people to help move the gameplay along. This course is open all year long so no matter what time you decide to visit the gulf coast you can enjoy this fun round of mini-golf.
5. Go out in the water
Being surrounded by water gives you the perfect opportunity to experience a wide variety of water activities. You can venture out into the Gulf and see some dolphins up close or charter a fishing boat and go catch some fish. If you are looking for a romantic night out, there are some sunset cruises that you can book as well. There are also pirate cruises available to give your kids a swashbuckling adventure.
6. Go snorkeling
Take a deep dive into the turquoise, oceanic waters of the Gulf Coast. Swim along the schools of tropical fish and colored reefs to experience a little bit of marine life. There are places you can rent snorkeling equipment if you do not have your own or you can take a guided snorkeling tour to make it easier to find some of the best spots for snorkeling.
7. Parasailing
Enjoy the views of Tampa Bay from the sky. There are a variety of different companies that can take you on this sailing adventure. This is an activity that is fun for the whole family. Your little ones as young as two years old can fly above the Gulf of Mexico. You have the option to go by yourself or you can go up with a few other people. You don’t even have to get wet! Just tell the operators if do or do not wish to get wet.
8. R.O.C. Park
R.O.C. (Remember our Children) Park is located on the Intracoastal Waterway. This park is a tribute to the victims of the opioid epidemic and others who passed too soon. While there are memorials for those that lost their lives, the park also celebrates the joy these children have brought to this world. This beautiful park features tennis courts, basketball courts, softball fields, a splash pad, butterfly garden, playground, fishing pier, and dog park.
9. Glass Bottom Tours
Take a nightly adventure with Sharkey’s Kayak LED Glass Bottom Tours. This one-and-a-half-hour sunset/night tour gives you the opportunity to see under the water and what marine life is like after dark. This is the perfect adventure for families, friends, and date night. While you paddle around in your kayak, you get to feed the fish! This is a truly unforgettable experience and one not to miss.
10. Food
There are a bunch of different restaurants available for you to enjoy. From local favorites to chain restaurants, you will find something for the whole family. What is a vacation without indulging in some sweets? You can find anything from ice cream to frozen yogurt to saltwater taffy to fudge.
